Injuries Resolution Board fees and process
The fee lookup does not include other expenses.
Read the Board processEducational lookup. Not legal advice.
Check the official Injuries Resolution Board application fee by submission method. The table below quotes the Board's process page for the application requirements and the main stages. This is an information lookup and does not submit a claim, collect documents or calculate a total award.
| Method | Fee | Official wording |
|---|---|---|
| Online or portal | €45 | Our fee (€45 online/portal and €90 via post) |
| Postal application | €90 |
Worked fee lookup
Select Online or portal. The lookup returns €45 from the Board's application fee statement. It performs no subtraction from an injury bracket and does not add other costs.
How the fee lookup works
Displayed fee = Board application fee[selected method]
The fee is a direct lookup from the official Our Process page. The amounts are application charges, separate from the general damages ranges displayed in the injury tools. Recheck the Board source before submitting an application.
Application and process: official wording
Read these quoted extracts with their original context in the Board source. The table identifies stages so that the application fee is not mistaken for an award or a promise of an outcome.
| Stage | Official source wording |
|---|---|
| Application form | A completed application formSource |
| Medical evidence | A medical reportSource |
| Notification | The Respondent has 90 days to respond and let us know whether they consent to our involvement.Source |
| Mediation | Mediation is a voluntary and confidential process that helps both parties work towards an outcome.Source |
| Assessment | We use the same Personal Injuries Guidelines as the Courts to calculate compensation.Source |
| Claimant response | The claimant has 28 days to accept or reject the assessment.Source |
| Respondent response | The respondent has 21 days to accept or reject it.Source |
| Payment order | If both parties accept the assessment, we issue a legally binding order requiring payment of the agreed compensationSource |
Reading the application requirements
The official application statement lists a completed form, a medical report and the fee. Use the source page to read those requirements together, rather than assuming payment alone completes an application. This site does not check a form, a medical report or the identity of a respondent. Keep any personal documents out of this lookup: there is no upload field and no document submission service.
The process table quotes the response periods stated by the Board. It does not calculate a deadline for your claim. A date calculator would need to apply the relevant circumstances and rules, which this tool does not do. Read the original notification or assessment information and the official process page before using a response period in a particular case.
Assessment and the injury tools
The Board's assessment description includes general damages and special damages. General damages cover pain and suffering, while special damages include financial losses such as medical expenses and lost earnings. The injury tools on this site display general damages brackets only. Their result is not the Board's assessment of a claim and does not include a special damages total. Use the injury tools to find the relevant source passage, and use the Board source to understand how its own process works.
